Collaborating for industry-wide improvement

Our Research Innovation Center (RIC) experts take a hands-on approach to shaping industry standards, actively participating in the formulation and refinement of guidelines within key committees, including ISO, the Cordage Institute, SAE, and NFPA. We’re not merely participants; we challenge existing norms, drawing on our expertise to set robust standards that reflect the evolving demands of various sectors. This commitment goes beyond traditional aramid applications, driving advancements in critical areas that impact multiple industries.  

We play a leading role in establishing stringent safety and performance benchmarks for synthetic fibers used in industrial solutions, such as ropes, cables, and mooring lines. Our expertise enables us to push for higher standards in sectors like ​aerospace, where fire-resistant materials are vital, and in personal protective equipment, which must perform reliably under the toughest conditions. By shaping standards across every stage – from material selection to final application – we ensure our customers can trust in the safety and quality of the products they rely on. 
 

Influencing standards across regulatory bodies

​Our ​​experts ​play a leading role at multiple standards development organizations. At ASTM International, we help shape guidelines for aramid yarns, as well as safety and performance in protective gear and specialized materials. Our employees contribute to ISO and the Cordage Institute, setting requirements for aerospace materials and industrial applications like ropes and cables. We’re actively involved in ​​efforts to establish cut protection standards for safety equipment, and we help shape flame-resistance criteria with the NFPA to ensure materials perform under extreme conditions. Through our engagement with SAE, we contribute to fire-resistant container standards for the aerospace industry, while at MEG4, we drive safety advancements in mooring lines.
