What sort of business is Teijin Aramid?
Teijin Aramid is the producer of a super-strong aramid fiber called Twaron®, which is used in various applications. The business produces this fiber in Delfzijl (polymer production), Emmen (spinning plant, pulp production and finishing) and Arnhem (pulp production), and sells this worldwide via an international network of sales offices and agents. Teijin Aramid has a worldwide market share of around 50% and the demand is growing significantly. Teijin Aramid has a non-hierarchic business structure, with open communication, an informal company structure and short lines of communication. Teijin Twaron is part of the Japanese Teijin Limited. You can find more information about the parent company Teijin Limited on the official Teijin website. You can find more information about Teijin Aramid itself in the general brochure (pdf file.1.1 Mb).

How does the future of the business look?
In 2007 Teijin Aramid extended its factories Delfzijl and Emmen in order to be able to meet the continuing great demand, also in the future. The production capacity has been increased by 50% through this expansion. As the demand for our products continues to grow, we have a very positive view of the future.

Where can I get more information about the products?
You can find more information about the products and applications on this site.

How is Twaron made?
Aramid (polyparaphenylene terephthalamide) is made out of the two monomers PPD (p-phenylenediamine) and TDC (terephthaloyl dichloride). For the production of these two monomers two factories have been built in Delfzijl. The most important raw materials for these are aniline, p-xylene, chlorine, sodium hydroxide, sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid. Also to be found in Delfzijl are facilities for polymerization, and recovery of the polymerization solvent (n-methylpyrolidone and calcium chloride). After rinsing and drying the polymer is transported to Emmen. In the dissolving process, before the spinning of the yarns, the polymer is dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid. After the spinning process, the yarn is rinsed, neutralized and dried. The sulfuric acid is recovered. By cutting the yarns into fibers, the so-called stacked fiber is created. Using a special process, pulp can also be produced.

What kind of people are Teijin Aramid looking for?
We are always looking for innovative, customer-oriented, flexible, result-oriented people who can work well in a team structure. And because we are a clearly technologically-oriented business it is true for many positions that an affinity to technology is needed.
